 What is Designer Jewellery?
This is a really interesting question, and one where we need to tread carefully. I think the first fact to establish is that by referring to jewellery as 'designer jewellery' does not immediately mean that it will be expensive. The cost will reflect the quality of materials used and the complexity and time spent in making it.
There are many that would have you refer to them as designer jewellers, where maybe they simply compile a range of manufactured jewewllery and attach a label. We will refer to designer jewellery on this site by using the following criteria.
1. The range must be designed by the designer/team of designers. 2. It will be made by the designer or comissioned to manufacture with strict quality control. 3. The designer jewellery we feature is usually themed and the designers will probably produce more than one collection twice a year. 4. The designer jewellery we feature will be chosen based on its quality and value for money. We will not promote 'designer jewellery' that we believe is well over priced. 5. We do not feature designer jewellers that work in precious metals.
Good examples of designer jewwellery we feature are shown below or they can all be found within our Designer Jewellery Gallery. Designer jewellery will also be found throughout the site in various sections as it will also fall either into fashion jewellery or costume jewellery. |
