What is Costume Jewellery?

We are often asked 'What is the difference between fashion jewellery and costume jewellery?'

The definition of costume jewellery is defined that all the jewellery is made from non-precious materials such as goldtone or gold-plated, silvertone or silver-plated, silver wire, resin, beads, pearlesque, plastics, wood and leather, etc.

This excludes jewellery made from all precious metals, such as gold and silver, precious or semi-precious gems or  stones, natural and cultured pearls.

So pretty much jewellery that is made to look more expensive than it actually is.
If you look in our Glitz & Glam section, this is the best example of costume jewellery in one section.
